1890-CC $10 MS62 PCGS. Winter 1-A, the only known dies. The 1890-CC is the first CC-mint eagle that is typically offered in either AU or Mint State grades. This suggests that, while the issues from the 1870s and 1880s saw extensive circulation, those from the 1890s were set aside either immediately upon delivery, or shortly thereafter. The ’’90-CC (17,500 pieces produced) is the second most common Carson City Mint eagle in high grades. The present MS62 PCGS representative qualifies for low end Condition Census standing (per Doug Winter, 2001). The strike is typical of the date with sharper definition on the reverse, but we stress that all features are at least boldly impressed. Both sides are richly frosted with swirling cartwheel visual effects and original medium gold coloration. Moderately abraded, as befits the grade, with several milling marks on the obverse portrait and in the right obverse field.
